Ladies' Week-end 2007

Some words for the Festival Secretary, W.Bro. Peter Farrell -
The weekend started early for some brethren getting to the hotel on Thursday evening, ie. permanent ladies' festival visitor W.Bro Ron Gibbs and others such as Kevin, Sally, Peter & Pam, myself and Shelagh. I can recommend this to all for next year as it really adds to the whole weekend at not much extra cost.
Everybody arrived on Friday and after a lovely meal we were entertained in the hall with a disco, and even more entertained by a great impression of Peter Kay in his new song by Lee Cannon, inclusive of borrowed wheel chair. As all who went know, Lee didn't stop there he sang a few numbers in an impromptu Karaoke session all of his own as the night went on, well done Lee a star of the future, we'll get him to sing the masters and ladies songs one day ! Very well egged on by Martin Twaites who persuaded the disco to play on longer, I believe with a little bribe. Well done to you Martin and thanks from Kevin and Sally for all your work buying and organising the raffle tickets and some of the prizes.
Saturday was not too clever weather wise but most struggled into Bournemouth for a walk if only to get the cobwebs out from the drinking sessions of the previous night.
The main night started early at 5.45 but all the ladies looked spectacular so much so that the photographer could not stop taking pictures of all these lovely ladies, sitting, standing and whatever.
The main event was carried out to perfection but only with the great attention and order of our excellent toast master, W Bro. David Nash. The food (all seven courses) was top drawer and the manager Andrew Paul his dining room manager "Magic" and staff were excellent and could not be faulted. They are looking forward to having us again next year.
Kevin and Sally started the dancing and we all danced till late. The raffle star prize, a flat screen telly, was won by our very own Spencer Hauxwell, a well deserved winner for all the work and support he always gives our events.
I think I can speak for Kevin and Sally in saying thanks to all who attended for making it a roaring success. All monies not finalised but we should have raised in excess of £1,500 which will be split between the Keach Cottage Childrens' Hospice and the Hertfordshire 2009 Festival.
Once again from me, thanks for all those who helped in organising this week-end and we all look forward to next year with Paul and Debbie on the 4th of July.
