Ladies' Week-end 2008

Last Updated 11th October 2010

Thanks to the generosity of those who attended the Ladies' week-end in Bournemouth, our Worshipful Master, Bro. Paul, and his lady, Debbie, have been able to donate the splendid sum of £2,000 to charity.

W.Bro. Paul writes:

"The Ladies festival held on Friday 4th July to Sunday 6th July was attended by many members of the Goffs Oak Lodge and friends and family.  My wife Debbie and I were pleased that many members of our immediate family could attend.

Friday 4th July being 'American Independence day'  we decided to get into the swing of the weekend by having a cowboy night with line dancing.  This went down very well and got nearly everyone up and joining in.

During Saturday, some went shopping in Bournemouth, some went to the pub - me included.

The gala dinner that evening went fantastically well, going into the wee small hours.  £1000 was raised for charity on that evening alone which was divided between 2 charities of particular interest for Debbie and me. Letchworth MS Society and UCLH cancer research.  Some other fundraising throughout the year meant they were to receive £1000 each.  They were both very appreciative of this support.

We would like to thank all those that organised the weekend to make it the success it was and of course all those that attended (especially Dame Edna Cannon !)."
