Dosing for Children

 Clark’s Rule

To determine the appropriate dosage for a child, use this formula:

child’s weight/150

Convert this to the lowest fraction.

Then multiply the dose (number of drops) times the fraction: Number of drops x child’s weight/150

This is the adjusted children’s dose.

Note: Clark’s Rule applies to dose, not frequency; frequency stays the same.

Example

Child’s weight is 100 lbs.

Clark’s Rule: 100/150 = 2/3

If the adult dose is 12 drops, a 100lb child would take two thirds of that, which is 8 drops.
