D-Ribose - new for endurance and strength

One of the best new supplements for bodybuilding

Scientists have found a new supplement called Ribose, which is actually better at rebuilding ATP than creatine (together they're awesome!) In fact, ribose is the starting point for ATP production within your body. Ribose was first researched in the 1950s, and over the last ½ century we've come to understand a lot about this impressive nutrient. Attention turned to ribose in the 1980s, when it was shown to increase energy levels in cardiac patients' hearts. In the early 1990s, this same energising effect was discovered in muscle tissue, and that's when sports scientists became interested. Ribose is in many foods, but the quantities are too small to improve performance. Only a ribose supplement will rapidly raise blood ribose levels. This makes it available to quickly replenish ATP and build up your energy reserves, causing increased  strength, mass and endurance.

So how effective is ribose? If research done in the US and Denmark is anything to go by, ribose may well become more popular than creatine among athletes. Scientist Dr. Ronald Terjung demonstrated that fast-twitch muscle fibres (the ones that grow fastest) can lose up to 28% of their energy during hard training, and would require 26 to 93 hours rest to fully recover.

Dr. Terjung has also shown that energy molecules are made 3.4 to 4.3 times quicker when supplementing with ribose. This means that your muscles could regain their energy charge in only 6 to 22 hours. Ribose will therefore make a massive difference to your recovery ability. Remember that once you have  stimulated muscle growth by training, your body will not grow an inch until it has first recovered. And in order to grow, you need a good supply of protein, so 50g per day of whey protein should also be useful.
