Olive Leaf

This is probably the most complete and powerful anti-microbial agent yet discovered.

It has strong effects against all the infective organisms for which it has been tested. These include a whole range of bacteria, yeasts, fungi and viruses, but also larger parasites, even including the malaria parasite.

A number of herbs, such as goldenseal and Oregon grape, have strong anti-bacterial effects, but little effect on viruses. Cats claw is one herb that works against both groups, but its effect on viruses is not as powerful as that of olive leaf. Elderberry is one herb that has powerful effects against viruses, particularly cold and influenza, but very little against bacteria and fungi.

Olive leaf extract has been shown to have strong effects against all groups of infective agents, and is therefore helpful against a wide range of problems.

There is already available in one capsule a combination of elderberry and cats claw, which has a near 100% success rate against colds and flu.

We think that taking olive leaf extract with this combination would have immensely powerful effects.

Tests have shown good results for olive leaf extract in the following problems:

1)      Malaria

2)      Skin infections

3)      Fungal nail infections

4)      Yeast and fungal infections (candida)

5)      Thrush

6)      Chronic fatigue syndrome

7)      Very good effects against herpes and shingles

8)      Urinary tract infections (such as cystitis)

9)      Hepatitis

10)  Tests have shown that it improves cardiovascular function. It is now known that viral infections can cause congestion around the heart. Could it be that these viral infections often go unrecognised, and this is why olive leaf extract works in a proportion of cases?

“Die Off” or “Herxheimer” Reaction

It should be noted that in the case of chronic infections such as candidiasis, the administration of effective anti-infective agents might cause a worsening of the symptoms, which may last for several days. This is caused by the sudden killing of a large population of yeasts, bacteria or protozoa. Their cell walls burst and release large amounts of toxins.

This temporary worsening of symptoms is a sign that the treatment is working. If the symptoms become too bad, then halve the dose for a day or two. The Herxheimer reaction should not occur in the case of acute infections.

Note

Although we have focussed on olive leaf’s antimicrobial uses, it is also anticoagulant (thins the blood). Therefore, if you are taking aspirin or other anticoagulants, check with your doctor before taking this herb.
