Rhodiola Rosea

There is a group of herbs which have long been held in high regard for their "adaptogenic" properties. In a study using 128 people aged 17-55, suffering from these symptoms, 64% showed partial or complete recovery when using Rhodiola, and work productivity increased. When administered after ‘flu, improvements in asthenia have been shown as early as the third day.

Depression

Because of its general stimulating effects, Rhodiola helps in cases of depression. It also helps production of serotonin and dopamine, which are both mood-enhancing neurotransmitters.

Recovery After Exercise

Rhodiola has been shown to greatly increase endurance, and also speed up recovery after heavy exercise. It performs these functions partially by normalising lactic and uric acids. Test subjects administered Rhodiola extract rapidly displayed improved indicators of their athletic prowess; increased endurance, decreased fatigue and improved general mental and physical state, with a decreased recovery time and a faster return to the "let's give it another go" situation.

A comparison experiment was carried out with commonly known anabolic steroids. Rhodiola was comparable with the steroids, yet had none of the negative effects of steroid compounds on the adrenal glands and other functions of the body.
