The Brackenrigg is an 18th century coaching inn overlooking Ullswater Our guests enjoy a beautiful view of the lake and surrounding fells from the dining room, bar, lounge, terrace, garden and bedrooms. The general quality of the facilities is, of course, what you should expect from an AA 4-Star Inn. We offer a number of touches, though, which give our guests something special... these include the genuine warmth of our welcome and service, whether you’re staying for a drink, a meal or overnight.
" PLEASE NOTE: We are a 4-Star Inn - this is different to a 4-Star Hotel (the current UK grading system for serviced accommodation can be a bit confusing) You'll not find full-on 4-Star Hotel facilities at the Brackenrigg - what we offer you is more like a 2 or 3-star hotel - but with all the added charm & friendliness that comes from being a cosy & characterful Inn...! " Many of our guests stay on our popular mini-breaks because of the superb quality and value for money of our award wining food, which is appreciated by visitors and locals alike, in fact the name Brackenrigg is synonymous with great food. We are open 7 days a week all year round for food, drink & accommodation. We offer a very flexible range of rooms … from affordable standard rooms … to superior rooms … to premium ground floor suites, one of which has full disabled facilities. The suites can be combined with superior rooms upstairs to form spacious apartments, ideal for families and small groups.
All of our rooms are en-suite - some with shower only and others with bath & shower. We have excellent wheelchair access to our public areas: bar, lounge and dining room. 3 of our rooms are dog-friendly and, of course, we also welcome guide dogs. We can offer activity options, a secure cycle shed and a wealth of local knowledge to guests as well as very flexible conference facilities to small business groups.
What makes us really special , however, is the 'accessibility' of our food. We offer top quality food without the 'fuss' sometimes associated with it. And, perhaps uniquely, guests can enjoy a similar quality of food in the bar, in the lounge or on the terrace as in the restaurant; you can be as relaxed or as formal as you choose.
Our excellent, well-chosen range of wines and beers complement the menu perfectly and our bar, with its local character and open fire (& dart board) is there for you to relax in even more. Of course, locally supplied food features very strongly in our carefully chosen menus and it's all cooked to order on the premises by our own chefs.
