Bishops Wood W.I.

A note from Sue

When I first moved to Bishops Wood I was asked by a neighbour if I would like to go with her to W.I.
WOMEN'S INSTITUTE !!!
I was only 36 years old and didn't posses a tweed suit.  My neighbour was, however, considerate enough to say, come once and if you never want to come again I won't ask why.
I went with some degree of doubt as to my compatibility with this particularly select group of the community.  I needn't have worried...they take in waifs and strays as well !  I've even joined their Committee.

The evenings we have are varied, interesting, fun (some even hysterical), but of far more importance to me are the friendships I have made along the way. Age is no barrier to friendship. I haven't seen any brogues or tweed suits in 4 years nor have I taken to singing Jerusalem whilst making jam, I haven't been asked to pose for a calendar, although I am open to monetary persuasion, oh and for the right cause of course!

I can say to all you ladies out there, COME ALONG AND TRY IT...and if you don't want to come again we won't ask why!
