is my chipboard mock up , I decided to make all my mistakes here so the
final tank won't be filled with holes and pieces stuck on to cover up
errors!
Drive should be at rear and the front wheels will run on a common axel that can be adjusted for track tension. So far I have made 2 mistakes and found several problems that need some thinking about. 1:- placed front spreader in wrong place and so bolts were not long enough to get full adjustment. Doh ! 2:- placed bolts in spreader to close to side and couldn't get spanners in to adjust ! Doh ! Doh ! This mockup as highlighted a major problem in that the drive axel for the rear wheels is very close to the floor and as both the KCM's and Golf Caddy gearbox's have the drive shaft coming out of the center of a large gear then I cannot get them wholly inside the body. | |

| Possible solutions are:- 1) let them hang down underneath pros:- easy and quick cons:- reduce ground clearance and will allow easier access for water/grit/dirt etc. 2) use a chain drive from gearbox output shaft to rear drive wheels pros:- would allow a gear reduction to drive wheels , reduce to speed but improve climbing/muddy/grass performance cons:- more bits to go wrong - same lack of clearance would mean this chain drive would have to be outside and between the tracks and the body jury's still out on this one
