Details for building a 1/6 Scale Radio Controlled Tank.

This is my Hetzer chassis.

Drive will be at the front and the rear wheels will run on a common axel that can be adjusted for track tension.

The road wheels are currently cut from wood and riding on the 12mm bolts , these may eventually get roller bearing

Timber at the back is for the tensioning adjuster for the rear axle, the blue wheels at the rear look good but the bearings inside diameter is to small as I want a 12mm axle to take the strain.

As you can see the motors are a tight fit ! both within the chassis and the spade terminal are very close together , I am hoping for a far turn of speed without having to gear up or down , we shall see.

This is the chassis all glued up and awaiting 2 coats of varnish, the back is on the left and the contraption in front is the tension adjuster which fits into the square hole in the block that can be seen screwed to the back.

The motor unit fits [ just but I have to breath in ! ] and the bits in front are just some scale decoration the same as can be seen glued on the back.

This the lower chassis after it's first trials and a outing to the Northern Proving ground at Rufford Park Nottinghamshire.

As you can see I am losing paint rapidly off the tracks but that's because this is NOT a hanger queen and has been run over grass , concrete , tarmac and bare earth.

It can go fast enough on concrete to slid a foot or two when it stops !

As can been seen it is relatively uncluttered inside and the electrics are already quite high , but I want them all above the tracks so I can confidently ford water up to the mudguards.

This is the cardboard mock up of the upper hull.

I need to design it so I can easily remove the front glacis plate the roof plate and the rear engine cover.

The sides will be bolted to the hull in 8 places so that I can remove that and build a different upper hull if it takes my fancy, several Self Propelled guns and of course a tank were based either on this chassis or variant.
