| The original was only a temporary measure and suffered from stability problems in the AntiAircraft role, only limited numbers were made. Dimensions of model are:- Length 54cm (21") Width 16cm (6.5") Height 20cm (8") The gun can elevate and traverse using the two wheels under the rear overhang. It can traverse indefinitely in either direction and can elevate till pointing vertically. Getting it to elevate and rotate was the biggest challenge and the whole project ground to a halt for a couple of months until I had it cracked.
The doors open and the interior has seats , gear stick and steering wheel. There would be 2 gunners sat on either side of the gun furiously hand cranking it around and up while a party of 3 would be responsible for keeping it loaded with clips of shells.
There is a differential connected to the front gears to drive the tracks. But I have not motorised it yet. I am split between getting motors on all the functions or just ripping it apart to build my next project. As I am flying model aircraft at present it has had a reprieve and nothing will be done to it now till the winter.
It should actually have a shield around the gun , but it spoils the looks ( you can't see the detail) and I have insufficient pieces to build it ! It uses 12 40 tooth gear wheels and when I started it I had to use red ones , now I actually have enough to change those. The suspension/bogies are visually accurate but do not function.
Here it is pictured with my 10 year old who wants to play with it No way !
What do you think it is a toy ?
