Holly Dolman

Previous Bands:

Holly started playing cornet aged seven at Warren Wood Primary school under Peter Christian and soon afterwards joined Poynton Youth Training Band. Having started in the 'learners group' over the years I worked my way all the way up through the ranks eventually becoming Principal Cornet aged 14. During my time at the youth band we went on numerous tours to Paris and Valkenburg in Holland (they were the best bits!) I left Poynton Youth when they kicked me out for being too old and forced me to go to University instead - going out on a high winning Best Instrumentalist at the National Youth Brass Band Championships.

During my time at the Youth Band I also did spells at Reddish Prize Band and Hazel Grove Band later going on to join the VBS Poynton Band on back row and quickly got talked into 'having a go on the front row' and then never managed to escape back again! Whilst playing at Poynton we qualified for and went to the first section national finals in Harrogate.

During 2006 I took a break from banding and thought I'd finally escaped but I somehow managed to get roped into playing horn?!? for Besses Boys Band at Pontins and all too quickly got talked into digging out my cornet again and coming down to rehearsals with Stockport Brass by Nicola!
