Mike began playing drums at
the age of 11 and in the years following started tuition focusing on
other instruments in the percussion section. Mike started his brass band career in the Poynton Youth Junior Band and since then has been a member of Stockport Schools Band, Marple ‘B’ Band (now Hawk Green Band), BT Band (first time round), Fodens Band and The Marple Band. He was also a member of The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain for a few years. In addition to the brass bands, Mike regularly plays with Stockport Symphony Orchestra and occasionally appears for other local amateur orchestras. Mike returned to the BT
Band in 2006 for a second spell after a year travelling around the world
in 2005.
