Nigel Hughes

Previous Bands:  

  Nigel started playing the Cornet around the age of 11 at Bessess Boys Band conducted by Barrie Chappell. Nigel was also a member of the Bury Schools Music Senior Brass Band where he Progressed to Principal Cornet.

After being with Bessess Boys Band for about 7 years as assistant principle to Stuart Lingard (principle at Y.B.S) Nigel Joined the Walkden  Band on assistant principle conducted by Mike Cotter.

 Nigel left the Walkden Band at the age of 20 to join the Rochdale Norwest Co-op Band on Repiano where they progressed to the Championship Section.

At the age of 23 Nigel joined the Brighouse & Rastrick Band on 2nd Cornet. Winning the National Championship at the Albert Halls for his first Contest with the Band. The Band was very busy doing concerts around the country as they had won the Nationals, European and the All England Masters in the same year. Brighouse missed out of the Nationals Hat-trick in 1999 when they where a close second. Nigel with the band thou completed a Hat-trick of Saddleworth wins at the whit Friday marches contest.

Nigel left the band in 2002 to have a few months of  due to work commitments. But due to popular demand he started back in 2003 with the Wingates Band on Repiano conducted by Roy Curran. In 2004 the band came 3rd at the North West areas Qualifying them for the London National Finals.

Nigel then joined the B.T Band in 2004 on Principal cornet because Peter Shaw wasn’t up for the Job. Nobody knows where Peter is Because he heard the lovely tones Nigel Produced so he gave up.
