Tom Swatland

Previous Bands: The Band of His Majesty the King's Guard, Kleppe Musikklag, Leyland Band

Tom began his musical life at the age of 9 in the Kristiansand School Band on the sunny palm tree coast of Norway! He chose the trombone, simply because he wanted to know how the player could know how to hit
all the notes without valves! 5 years later he joined the Agder District Band and Tveit Union Band and stayed there until his compulsory year in the army at the age of 19, where he spent one year in the service of His
Majesty the King's Guard.

After that he moved to Bergen where his brass band career took off with Kleppe Musikklag, under the baton of the
famous Norwegian tuba soloist Eirik "the Viking" Gjerdevik. After two years in Bergen he moved to Salford, where he currently studies BA Music at the University of Salford with Andy Berryman as his tutor.

During his first semester at Uni he was asked to take the solo trombone seat at Leyland Band, which he gladly did, and kept the seat warm until he joined Stockport Brass this January!
