(Map To Airfield - Large

The Airfield is located between Eggborough Power Station and Selby on the A19,
2.5 miles from Selby. We can be found just off the A19 in Burn and we are signposted. Once at
the airfield, please go to the main Club building and ask someone to direct you to the
launch point. For more detailed directions to the airfield click on the following links. At The Airfield (

The airfield has three main runways, which are all accessible from the area around the
club house and hangar. For your safety, please use the perimeter track that is shown on
the airfield map. These are heavily pot-holed so please drive carefully. If you feel
confident moving to the launch point via the runways, you can do so, but drive carefully,
keeping to the side of the runway.
There is often a large grey van on the spur in use which signifies the launch point (you
may well see gliders on the ground here as well). This vehicle signifies the closest that
parking is allowed to the active runway. Please keep a good lookout, and when driving down
a spur, keep well into one side driving with your hazard warning lights switched on
allowing gliders to see you more easily, since a glider maybe landing anywhere on the
airfield. Remember: Gliders are silent. If you do see one, pull into the
side and STOP, so that the pilot has no doubt of your intentions.
Evening Visitors,
If you are arriving on an evening during the summer a member of the club or ground crew
will take you to the launch point. If you arrive late, drive past the clubhouse on your
right (next to the hangar) and onto the perimeter track. Proceed until you come to the
spur on which the gliders and cars are parked. Drive down that spur ONLY and keep into one
side. Remember: Gliders are silent. If you do see one, pull into the side
and STOP, so that the pilot has no doubt of your intentions.
