Broxtowe Women’s Project is a Women’s Aid organisation offering outreach support to women experiencing domestic violence, primarily operating in the North of Broxtowe and Stapleford area.  Our information and awareness raising extends across the whole of the borough.

Our work assists to reduce isolation, empower and equip women with knowledge and skills and ensure that vulnerable women have access to a wider range of resources.  Research reflects that women supported by women's aid organisations have increased confidence; they have made life-changing decisions through being able to talk through what is happening in their lives.

Broxtowe Women’s Project is delighted to be able to offer to women who live in the Broxtowe Borough the opportunity to attend an 8 week free domestic violence programmes which aim to raise women’s awareness of domestic violence, improve self-confidence and encourage women not to self blame for the abuse experienced. The courses will be held in the Eastwood area every Thursday morning during term times and run on a fortnightly basis. Transport can be provided to women from other areas in the Broxtowe borough.  We are also providing childcare to enable women with young children to access the programme.

Women who attended the last short programme have found it beneficial in a number of ways, one woman commented ‘I’ve found the support group programme really useful and I’ve got more confidence’ and another woman fed back that she had ‘really enjoyed all the relaxing activities we have done, whilst discussing issues around domestic violence’ another woman thought that the best thing about the group was ‘being ‘believed’ and meeting people who understand and make you feel much less alone.’ One woman sums up her thoughts on the group experience ‘So glad I came, thank you for giving me the opportunity to maybe help other women get free and be treated the way they deserve to be.’

If you are interested in joining our next programme, due to start in January 2009, we would love to hear from you. Or maybe you work in a supportive capacity to a woman who you think might benefit from joining - please call us on our agency phone line, which is 01773 718 555.  At Broxtowe Women’s Project we have to take the safety of everyone very seriously, for this reason our workers will ask a few simple questions to make sure its safe for all of us at the group and we will also need to have some details about you and your situation, this information is held confidentiality by Broxtowe women’s Project. We operate a confidential support line every Monday to Friday 10am till 1pm, our number is 01773 719 111.  At other times there is a confidential answer phone and calls are returned at the very earliest opportunity. If you phone outside these hours then please leave a message saying when it would be a safe and a good time for us to call you back. The support Broxtowe Women's Project offers does not blame and is non judgemental.  We look forward to hearing from you.
