Chelmsford March NewsletterMany thanks to Peter Smithdale for pulling together our newsletter for March. Most of those who have joined the club this year will have been sent a copy via email. This will help reduce costs for the club in copying and postage. Please let the front desk know if you have not received a copy via email as some of the addresses did bounch back when the the email was sent. Jack Petchey Award WinnersThe following athletes have been awarded the Jack Petchey awards for the Jan - June period. Each winner has the choice of how they spend £200 on behalf of the club. The money may be spent in a number of ways, but in general it is used to benefit the club and not for individual personal purchases. The selection has been based on their personal achievements and contribution within the club. If you have any queries please contact Steve Mitchell. England U17 Multi Event Championships - Sheffield 5th MarchIn a nail biting contest, Hayley Mclean retained her title by beating off the strong opposition. In a field of 26 athletes, Hayley got off to a good start by winning the hurdles. She had a difficult high jump, which left her back in 5th place. After the shot she slipped again to 7th. Then a PB in the long jump of 5.49 pulled her back to 3rd place. Hayley's very strong 2.25s 800m meant she was unstoppable and took the title with 100 points to spare. England U15/17/20 Championships - Birmingham NIA 26th/27th FebAnother exciting weekend for Chelmsford athletes. In there hurdles Hayley Mclean smashed her personal best in winning the 60m hurdles.
