Structural Steel Section Blocks for CAD

  • The steel blocks are compatible with AutoCad R14 (R), AutoCad 2000(R), Intellicad 2000(R), and AutoCadLT 2000i(R), and any other cad package that can read Acad blocks.

  • Most of the British Standard Sections are available such as:- UB, UC, RSJ, PFC, UB Tees, UC Tees, Equal Angles, Unequal Angles, CHS, SHS & RHS. If you require other sections to be included let me know.

  • A sample of 58 different views is available for download. The full package of steel blocks amounts to over 3000 items.

  • A summary of the blocks is shown in the image below. A more Complete reference guide is now available for download in DWG format, see below.

  • Cross Sections are drawn to exact size and can be inserted in any location and at any angle on the main drawing.

  • Plans on flanges and elevations on webs are constructed to exact depth and widths and are exactly 1000mm long. On importing these blocks they can be inserted in any location, at any angle and to achieve the desired length just use the appropriate scale factor for the 'X' direction. i.e. if the member you want has to be 6550mm long then the 'X' scale factor is simply 6.55.

  • Insertion points for the blocks are set as follows:

UB, UC, RSJ, Tees, CHS, SHS & RHS Cross Sections - Intersection of centroid lines Except for an additional set of blocks that are provided with the suffix 'ITF' (insertion top flange) these have their insertion points on the top flange on centre line. You will normally use centroid for columns and bracing and 'ITF' for beams, this just cuts down on the moves needed after inserting a block, try both types and feel the difference.

Angle Cross Sections - Use the heel of the angle.

PFC Cross Sections - Generally use the back face of the web on centre line of the web, Except for files suffixed 'ITF' in which case the top flange intersection with the back face of the web is used.

For Plan Views and Elevations - The left-hand end of the member is used for the insertion point for all section types. The insertion point position within the depth of the member follows the same pattern as for Cross Sections.
