About CCLC
Font size Camden Community Law Centre is a registered charity serving local residents of the London Borough of Camden. Our aim is to assist residents (and some employees) in Camden in the areas of advice and representation that we specialise in, within our priorities and policies as set out by our Management Committee. Camden Community Law Centre is made up of specialist units which advise in areas of law that have been found to be crucial to the most vulnerable people of Camden. These include housing, immigration, employment, discrimination and welfare rights law. The law centre has about a dozen caseworkers, many of whom are full-time, and has 5 part-time administration workers. Volunteer solicitors and barristers give their time and specialist knowledge to clients of the law centre. Other volunteers help with admin and the day to day running of the law centre. Camden Community Law Centre is a collectively run organisation, with a volunteer Management Committee made up of members of local community groups, individuals members, members of the Law Society and Camden Councillors. Funding for Camden Community Law Centre’s activities comes mainly from Camden Council grant allocations, the Community Legal Service, donations and fundraising. Law Centres exist in many London boroughs and areas of the UK. All are independently run organisations but all have the same principles. The Law Centres Federation acts as a co-ordinating body for law centres.
