Camden Community Law Centre currently runs a discrimination advice project, funded by the Equalities and Human Rights Commission.

The discrimination advice project provides free legal advice and assistance for people living, working or studying in Camden, Islington, Haringey, Enfield, Barnet, Croydon, Merton, Sutton, Wandsworth, Richmond and Kingston.

We cover all areas of discrimination - other than employment. We can advise on discrimination in relation to the provision of goods and services, premises and public authorities (including education, health, police, housing and social services).

We can advise on discrimination on the grounds of race, sex, age, pregnancy, disability, sexual orientation, gender reasignment and religion or belief.

Representation in discrimination cases is also provided.

How we work
Our advice and assistance are free.

Where you are eligible for public funding for representation, we will apply for this on your behalf. If you are not eligible for public funding and we represent you in Court proceedings, you may have to pay external fees (such as court fees). We will provide more details about this if it affects you.

If we take your case on we will be acting on your behalf, with your instructions, in the same way as private solicitors. Our work is governed by Law Society rules.

Confidentiality
NO information is disclosed to anyone, nor any steps taken, without your permission.
If we cannot take on your case, we will do our best to refer you to an alternative.

Home visits:
Where necessary, we provide home visits for housebound clients who cannot visit the Law Centre. This is by appointment.

Language
We can normally arrange for an interpreter or signer where necessary (please ask in advance).

Equal opportunities
The Law Centre is an equal opportunities organisation. We aim to ensure that we do not discriminate in the provision of our services.

The Law Centre will not accept oppressive behaviour towards clients, members of staff or management.

Complaints
We try to provide the highest possible standard of service. Complaints about any aspect of our services will be investigated and should be directed to the Chair of the Management Committee of the Law Centre.
