CHRISTIAN AID WEEK 11th -17th MAY 2008

Christian Aid is all about making a real difference to people in some of the world's poorest communities. Last year was their most successful week so far with collections in the West region up by an average of 5%. Obviously, Christian Aid is hoping to do even better this year so as to continue their life-transforming work So I am looking for volunteers to deliver and collect envelopes during Christian Aid Week. Please pray about this and if you can help please put your name, address, telephone number and road or part of a road you would prefer to work in i.e. roads in Mangotsfield and many in Emersons Green. You will get the envelopes before the 11th May. Thank you Sylvia Rae.

Coffee Morning & Bring and Buy

There will be a Coffee Morning with Bring & Buy at the URC Cossham Street on Friday May 16th @ 10.30am Also Tea with entertainment by the Syngery Singers at the Methodist Church Hall on Saturday May 10th @ 4.30pm. Cost £3.50. Tickets from Margaret Boulton.

Parish Outing - Longleat- Saturday 10th May 2008

23 young people and children and 17 adults are going on the trip. Everyone should meet at 9.00am in the layby opposite Mangotsfield School on Rodway Hill Road. The coach will leave promptly at 9.30am. Do not forget to bring your packed lunch and drinks for the day. Plan for the weather being cold and wet and if it is not that's a bonus! The Turner's coach does have 3 point seat belts and there will be room for pushchairs as required. We aim to be back at the layby in Mangotsfield between 6.15 and 6.45pm. MANGOTSFIELD SCHOOL - appointment of Foundation Governor

Having served her 4 years as a Foundation Governor, Shirley Green has now retired. This means that we are looking for a new Foundation Governor at our Church School. This involves 6 meetings a year in the early evening, plus some committee work. If you would like to investigate further, please see Steve, Shirley or the other Foundation Governors (Doreen Bowell and Paul Richmond). We are very grateful to Shirley for all her hard work and valuable contribution over the years as a Foundation Governor

AWAYDAY with BISHOP LEE

Saturday 31st May - 10.00am-4.00pm (times to be confirmed) @ Chewton Mission Church, Chewton Keynsham (just outside Keynsham) It is hoped that as many as possible from the parish will attend! Please sign the sheet by the door. 10th ANNIVERSARY ANNUAL ECUMENICAL SONGS OF PRAISE at Staple Hill Methodist Church - Tuesday 20th May @ 7.30pm

THE CITY OF BRISTOL CHOIR

... will be performing Handel's oratorio "Israel in Egypt" on Sat. 17th May, 7.30pm @ St George's Bristol. Tickets from Steve or on 07726 762070

A CONCERT by THE GREAT WESTERN CHORUS

If you pay income tax why not enclose your offering in one of the white envelopes placed in each pew and so increase your contribution by 28p in the pound?
