A few days prior to the shoot:
- Ring around and find out roughly how many people are going to attend.
- Make a note of how many require lunch in the Hunters Lodge clubhouse.
- Organise lunch with Steven or Jo at Hunters Lodge (01483 476040)
- Inform Steven or Jo what time you wish to pick up the Club rifles (½ hr before shooting).
- Check box contents (including batteries) and replenish where necessary (keep receipts).
On the shoot day:
- Go to Hunters Lodge and get rifles and ammo from the armoury1 (locker keys in box).
- In the gunroom, clean the barrels of oil/solvent.
- Go to NRA and find out where we are shooting (notify others by mobile phone).
‘Sign out’ on the NRA register. If necessary, obtain a pair of radios2.
- Take rifles and ammo to firing point – meet members.
- Fill in a LRPC range sheet (and include ammo sales).
- Organise the shooting roster and butt duties where necessary.
- Keep a record of all ammunition sales and collect cash.
- Be responsible for the safe conduct of all club shooters throughout the day3.
- If you go to lunch, ensure that rifles/ammunition are guarded.
At the end of the day:
- Go to NRA and ‘sign in’ on the register, pay any range fees4 or ask for LRPC to be billed.
- Take rifles back to Hunters Lodge gunroom and clean them thoroughly.
- Secure rifles and ammunition in the club lockers.
- Note ammunition stock5 and bring deficiencies to the attention of a Committee member.
- Pass range sheet, ammo sales and money to the Treasurer.
- If possible, pass the Bisley box to the next RO (if not, do so before the next shoot).
Notes:
1. Armoury keys are held by Hunters Lodge staff. Take membership card with you.
2. Only required if shooting at ranges over 200 Yds.
3. Ensure that everybody is a LRPC full or probationary member and that there are no shooters under the age of 14. For further information, refer to ‘NRA Bisley Range Regulations’ located in the box.
4. Pay by club cheque (obtainable from Treasurer).
5. Maintain at 250 rounds of each calibre.
