Late 30's "Jubilee" K6 Mark 1 Kiosk

Collection and Recovery

Another eBay purchase for £200. I acquired this kiosk from a back garden in Middlesex. Advertised as easy to remove has been shifted about recently etc etc. Ok so I arrive with a Luton 3 and a half tonner tail lift and two friends on a dark and wet evening to collect the thing with help from the 3 sons who would be there.

1st thing, an extension on the house is only 3 feet from the entrance gate so the box is going to have to slide through precisely. "Easy access", for a wheel barrow! 2nd thing it's concreted into the ground and a patio laid around it, hmmmmmm "been moved recently". Around 20 years ago may be. 3rd thing only one son! (bugger*&()£$%$££)

We set about the box wobbling it loose with scaffolding pipes and brute force, it's 8pm now and there's still another half hour of this to go.

Out it came and onto the rollers 10 minutes to get it to the gate half an hour to get it through the pointless double gates which were almost completely blocked by the new extension. Then some more fun getting it into the van 2 people short. Ah ha an interested person wandering past, looks like a recruit! The extra bit of help and it was in the van in 10 minutes and we're away along the A40.

k6arrival.jpg (25828 bytes)Midnight and we're back in Upper Norwood, here comes the tea and a plan for off loading. Easy, slide it onto the tail lift plate and lower the lift, the thing is now at 45 degrees, half on half off. A quick bit of reversing and it's upright. Hi Abs and hydraulic lifters Pahh who needs them!

If the box had been stood on a concrete plinth and access not been the exact size of the box, three of us would have had this loaded in 20 mins transported in an hour and off loaded in 10 mins at a cost of £35 for the van and £5 in fuel.
