St Fagans has been one of the major village league cricket sides in both local and national competitions for over 140 years. The Club also prides itself on the development of youth to provide the backbone of future sides. With five Saturday sides, players from the under 13 junior team upwards have a regular opportunity to play senior cricket. Last season we had one of our ex-juniors in the Glamorgan 1st XI, another in the 2nd XI, two playing for the Glamorgan Academy and another representing Glamorgan under 17s. A further seven girls and boys from the club represented Wales. St Fagans is one of 44 cricket clubs in Wales with Clubmark Accreditation. |

| 2009 Season Report The highlight of the season has been the third place earned by the 1st XI in the Premiership, securing a place in next season's South Wales premier league, alongside the other teams making up the top five in the current Premier League (Cardiff, Newport, Usk and Sully) and the top five from the 1st Division of the South Wales Cricket Association (Ammanford, Ynysygerwn, Pontarddulais, Swansea and Port Talbot Town). This has been a great effort from all involved, led by first team captain, Owain Hopkins. It is particularly pleasing that the 1st team has been comprised predominantly of young players who have developed through our junior section, including current Glamorgan player, Tom Maynard. Unlike other teams, we have not depended on the use of "hired guns". This bodes well for the future fortunes of the club. The 2nd team have also had a productive end to the season, finishing in 4th place. The side has relied heavily on current junior players, creatively nurtured by Nick Allan and Phil Makinson and again this should benefit the future of the club. The 3rds and 4ths both avoided relegation in a difficult
year and they too should be stronger with the blooding of young players.
Thanks go to Clive Franklin, Rob King and especially Simon Joseph for
getting teams out on a Saturday. Click here for
