St Fagans has been one of the major village league cricket sides in both local and national competitions for over 140 years. The Club prides itself on the development of youth to provide the backbone of future senior sides. With five Saturday teams, players from the under 13 junior age-group upwards have a regular opportunity to play senior cricket. Tom Maynard, who came through the junior section, plays for the Surrey 1st XI, Ruaidhri Smith is part of the Glamorgan Academy and Jeremy Lawlor has been selected for the new Glamorgan Emerging Players Program. A further five girls and boys from the club are in Wales squads in 2011, as well as many others playing for the Cardiff and Vale age-group teams. Andrew Leering is also part of Holland's development squad. St Fagans is one of 44 cricket clubs in Wales with Clubmark Accreditation. |

2011 Season - Latest news The 2011 season came to a rather unsatisfactory end for the 1st XI with Saturday's game again being lost to the weather, allowing Usk a free run in to the title and promotion to the Premier league. We remained 0.84 average points behind, in second place. The 2nd XI's game was also rained off but this did not stop them romping home to the 2nd XI title, 1.03 average points ahead of Chepstow. This was despite having their last three games rained off. St Fagans has won the league Club of the
Year award. Go to http://stfagans.play-cricket.com/scoreboard/results.asp for more details about matches played. |
