Tom
Maynard
Congratulations to Tom Maynard,
who has recently been named the Glamorgan County
Cricket Club Player of the year. Those at the club
wish to express their congratulations to him
on having yet another fine season, and this
award no doubt highlights the progress he has made.
Becky Williams
Congratulations are also due to
Becky Williams, who has recently been selected for
the England Ladies academy. We all wish her the best
of luck throughout the winter and the next few
seasons.
Greg
Hayne
Former St Fagans cricketer Greg Hayne (1996/7)
became the highest ever runscorer in Sydney Grade
Cricket last weekend. This is an amazing achievement
especially when you consider that he has scored more
than 12000 runs and the record has stood for 73
years. Greg, who has scored nearly all of these runs
for Balmain Tigers, is now
35 and in his younger hirsute days played State
Cricket for New South Wales and Australia Under 19's
(in the same team as Adam Gilchrist, Damien Martyn
and Michael Kasprowicz).

Greg is not a stranger to records - he holds the
following St Fagans records -
Highest individual score 210 v Swansea
Most runs in a season 1917 (Tom Merilaht would have
to play Sunday seconds every Sunday and for the 5ths
on Saturdays to break that record.)
Most catches in a season 34 (surely a record that
will never be broken) - mostly at short leg where he
was world class - Glamorgan Coach John Derrick once
commented that he had never seen a close catcher
quite like Greg.
All of this is not to suggest that Greg is in any
way statistically minded but I am sure this latest
personal milestone will be very special to him, his
family and his club. Congratulations to him.
