Hans Place is an exquisite example of the type of architecture associated with the settlement of the court of William III in Kensington; during this period picturesque houses were contructed to house the court members.
The Red Brick and Stone design of 47 Hans Place, following the Arts & Crafts architectural style of Voysey & Macmurdo, was starting to show signs of wear in 2006. The expertise of C&D Restoration was brought in to restore and stabilise the building façade whilst maintaining the integrity of the architecture. The fractured stonework was reinforced using stainless stell pinning and rein injection. Attention was then turned to the decorative moulded panels and cornices. These were chemically cleaned using the low pressure super heated DOFF system to strip paint from them, leaving then ready for repair. We then applied our specialist techniques to carry out extensive stone repair on the following aspects of the building:
As with all or our projects, we ensured that only the highest quality of workmanship and materials were used to maintain the logevity and architectural character of the building. |
