Maple Manor is a fine example of Surrey’s historic architecture. The Secretary of State for Culture has designated this property as a Grade II listed building. The English Heritage organisation described the property as “a building of outstanding interest”. Unfortunately, this picturesque sandstone building had not been maintained and, in 2006, C&D Restoration were employed to rejuvenate and repair the stonework to return it to its former finery.

When repairing stonework, C&D Restoration feel that the materials used must be of a superior standard. On this project 320 Wealden Sussex Sandstone Blocks including Quoins, Plinths and Ashlars were used. The stone was cut from the Philpots quarry which has provided quality stone used on buildings as prestigious as Kew Palace and Battle Abbey.

All Wealden Blocks were tooled by experienced craftsmen to match the appearance of the existing stonework and to comply with the regulations involved in restoring a Grade II listed property.

Specialist methods were used to:
  • Support the front façade before any work was undertaken
  • Remove the damaged stonework
  • Lay new stone on a bed of lime based mortar
  • Repair internal structural brickwork
Our craftsmen then carried out all necessary stone repairs to the entire property.
