This property is situated in the heart of the fashionable Mayfair neighbourhood. It is now an exclusive hotel but was originally built as a magnificent 18th Century mansion.

In the early 1700’s Grosvenor Square was formed as part of the Grosvenor family's development of that aristocratic district and this building is a fine example of the early Georgian architecture influenced by Lord Burlington and Robert Adam.

It was built overlooking the tranquil gardens of Grosvenor Square and has a very aesthetically pleasing Georgian façade. However, over time, the stonework has become discoloured and worn. C&D Restoration were employed to undertake a full cleaning and restorative programme to return the building to its original grandeur.

By applying rotating mist sprays (Nebula Spray System) of water directly onto the stonework and brickwork at repeated intervals, the layers of dirt and grime became soft and loose to touch. Bristle brushes were then used to remove the top layers of dirt. The jet wash was then used to wash clean all the Portland limestone and brickwork back to its natural condition.

Stone repairs were then carried out using a Portland limestone mix which was developed to match the exact colour and texture of the existing stone.

Re-pointing, cleaning of the glazed brickwork around the open light wells and re-grouting was also undertaken.

Not only has the work carried out restored the façade with respect to aesthetics, it has also prolonged the life of the building as it has reduced the effects of wear and erosion.
