Gymkhana Day

A fun packed day open to all ages and abilities.  Gymkhana games in teams with rosettes for all and prizes for the highest placed team!  Design your own games and then get to play them. Please bring a packed lunch.

Two Hour Hacks

Come and explore the beautiful hacking we have on offer at Colchester Garrison
Saddle Club. Must have hacked before and be happy to walk, trot and canter.

10am-12noon. £30.00 payable at time of booking.

Own A Pony Day

A fun filled day for all ages and abilities.  Ideal for those who want to learn how to look after ponies as well as ride them!  Includes one session of riding and stable management lecture suitable to the ability of the group.  Plenty of practical hands on grooming, tacking up, skipping out etc. Please bring a packed lunch. 

10am until 3pm.  £35.00 payable at time of booking.

Riding and Road Safety

Do you or your child hack out?  If so, learn what to wear, how to ride your horse/pony on the road and most importantly how to be safe. Simulated indoor route and practical riding on the road.  This is a general introduction to riding on the road.

We are also an official training and examination centre for the British Horse Society Riding and Road Safety test.  Please check dates on our Courses page and for more information on Riding and Road Safety visit the British Horse Society website.

Showjumping/X Country training  with Jonathan Allinson

Jonathan is a qualified professional trainer who trained with Christopher Bartle (Coach to the Germen 3 Day Event team in the Beijing Olympics, 2008) at the Yorkshire Riding Centre.  He is a regular visitor to CGSC and gives 1.5 hour long group lessons on themes such as Arena Cross-Country, Jumping Courses and Gridwork for groups of up to 6 riders at a greatly subsidised cost.

£30.00 per person inclusive of horse/pony hire.

Walk and Trot Picnic Ride

Come and explore the beautiful hacking we have on offer at Colchester Garrison Saddle Club.  Minimum ability: must be happy at walk and trot and have previously hacked out.  Please provide a packed lunch with your child’s name on it. 

11am until 3pm.  £30.00 payable at time of booking.

Awards and Activities Day

Come and have a fun packed day at The Saddle Club and gain your riding and stable management awards.  All abilities catered for and activities to include: treasure hunt, arts and crafts and handy pony. Please bring a packed lunch.

Pub Hack

On a long summers evening why not come and enjoy our beautiful countryside ...and then stop at the pub for a drink!  Continue your ride home and then settle your horse in the field for a well deserved roll.  To enjoy this hack, riders must be able to walk, trot and canter happily to get the most out of these fun rides.

£30 payable at the time of booking.

Dressage Clinics

With Carol Hipkin a top class dressage rider and trainer.  You can hire a horse from the Garrison Saddle Club to take part, or use your own horse.  These clinics are informative, fun and hard work and lessons will be tailored to the individual giving you lots of ideas to improve your horsemanship and your horses’ way of going.

Groups (3 people maximum) £30 per person, Semi Private (2 people sharing) £35 per person and Private £45.

Le Trec

We are really excited that this summer we will be able to offer Le Trec competitions with the help of a BHS Le Trec organizer.
