Children in the Yard

All young children are to be kept under adult supervision at all times.

Dogs

Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.

On Your First Visit

Please go into the stable block marked Colchester Garrison Saddle Club which is opposite the large outdoor arena. You will need to arrive 15 minutes before your lesson starts to allow time to complete rider registration and membership forms.  A member of staff will assist you with finding a hat (with chin strap done up to fit snugly under chin), boots if you require them, and to introduce you to the horse or pony you are riding.  If your child is having a lead rein lesson, a parent or guardian will be required to lead the pony as we feel it gives the child more confidence if they are lead by someone they know.  Suitable footwear must be worn by leader.

Leading your horse/pony to the indoor school:

  1. Reins untwisted from the throat lash and the throat lash redone up. Leave the reins over the horse/ponies neck and hold them under the horses chin.
  2. Stirrups run up
  3. Walk beside horse/pony on the left hand side (parents to hold the pony on the right hand side).
  4. Take pony/horse into indoor school and wait for further instructions from your Instructor.

Before you start your lesson please make payment to a member of staff in the stable block and rebook for your next session at the same time.
