What Labour stands for in Cheltenham

Our Values

The values Labour stands for today are those which have guided our local party for over 90 years, since its creation in 1918.

A Britain where:

Labour's Legacy

For every child who – instead of being cooped up in a flat - is playing in a brand new children’s centre, that is our legacy.

For every patient who instead of waiting in pain is cared for by doctors and nurses in a brand new hospital – that is our legacy.

For every villager in Africa whose life has been transformed by cancelling third world debt – that is our legacy.

Labour in opposition

We will be an effective opposition. We will not pull our punches. But we will not oppose for the sake of it.

Though we are in opposition we will:

Our Labour MP's and shadow cabinet have a broad mixture of experience, youth and diversity. With more Labour women and Black and Asian Members than the rest of the House put together.

The Coalition Government have said they stand for freedom, fairness, and responsibility. These are principles with which the whole country would agree.

Labour will make sure the new Government lives up to them.
