Company and Personal Profile

My name is Martin Chesworth and I have been making and supplying snooker cues and accessories for over ten years. I am based in Sheffield, England which is the home to the Embassy Snooker World Championships. I am a keen player of the game as well as a manufacturer and this helps give me an added insight into what makes a good cue. I have steadily built up my reputation over the years through attention to detail and good customer service. I receive a lot of enquiries from people on the strength of recommendations from my previous customers, which I think is the best indicator of customer satisfaction. I have an edge over larger 'faceless' companies in that I give a more personalised service. I take time out to really investigate which type of cue will be best suited to your style of play and if you are unsure about exactly what you are after I can offer friendly advice on what the options are. And remember that at the end of the day all my cues come with a playing guarantee, which means if you are not 100% satisfied with the cue I will gladly exchange it for a more suitable one. |

From start to finish the cues are made by hand. Firstly the shafts are hand-selected for rigidity and straightness of grain. At this stage quite a lot of the shafts are rejected if they don't meet the stringent criteria. Next the splices are added to the shaft to create the butt. Again this is done by hand using a minimum of four splices in exotic hardwood (usually ebony or rosewood). Precision brass alloy joints are then fitted. These are either the traditional standard screw joint or the ever more popular modern quick release style of joint. A brass ferrule is firmly attached to the cue using a special two-pack glue which gives a perfect seating for the tip. |

Leather or rubber pads are bonded to protect the butt and add extra longevity to the cue. Finally, the cue goes through an extensive sanding process to give it the desired perfect finish. Various oils are used to firstly protect the cue and secondly to enhance the sheen and give the cue lasting finish. |
