What’s it all about?
Bra Bank Recycling is the latest fundraising initiative from Connect. The concept revolves around a campaign instigated by BCR Global textiles, which specialises in recycling textiles to benefit the third world.
Involvement in this scheme means that Connect will receive £1 for every 1 kilo of bras collected in one of Connects personal ‘Bra banks’. Recycling bras, rather than throwing them away, helps to protect the environment from the harmful gases that are released during a long biodegrading process. Not only this but these unwanted bras, which need to be clean and wearable, are then sent to the developing world, providing job opportunities through sales, and giving disadvantaged women, er, support!
Where are the Bra Bank Recycling bins?
Connect has placed several ‘bra banks’ around Camberley town. They are recognisable through their shocking pink shade and the connect logo. Connects bins can be located at the following sites:

We are absolutely delighted to have Courtauld's UK Limited, an international clothing and fabric company supporting us in this initiative.
Grateful thanks goes particularly to Margo Meacher, Technical Administrator (fabric) who activated the collections and has inspired her work colleagues to participate.
Courtaulds manufactures and supplies branded, and private label clothing to retailers in the United Kingdom and internationally. Following regular bra trials,
the bras are recylced through the bra bank rather than being thrown away and this has really boosted our campaign, resulting in much needed regular funds for Connect.
It is great to see a company eager to recycle, avoid waste and help a small charity make a difference within a community, so an enormous thank you to all those involved.
Thank you for your help
