PROFILE:

Simon has wide experience in contentious and non-contentious construction, commercial and contract law and is a skilled advocate and professional development trainer. Simon is a non-practising barrister, called to the Bar in 2000, and an accredited Mediator and Adjudicator by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Simon has been a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators for more than ten years, and has a Masters Degree in Commercial Law from the University of Bristol. Simon was elected Fellow of the Faculty of Building in 2004, and is a Member of the Quantity Surveyor's Institute. Simon has successfully conducted hundreds of adjudications and arbitrations across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Having previously worked with a national construction claims consultancy and before that in a construction law department of a large provincial firm of solicitors, Simon has lengthy specialist experience of construction disputes.

Extensive knowledge of contract law, contractual terms, rights and obligations, breaches of contract, damages, and all manner of financial claims arising in connection with contracts.

Resolved a wide variety of disputes for a full range of clients in construction, including small medium and international building and civil engineering contractors, developers, local authorities, health trusts and universities, and professionals including architects, engineers and surveyors.

Specific experience in professional negligence, insurance and insolvency issues and disputes, as well as in rail, water, energy, telecoms and manufacturing industries.

Wide experience of dispute resolution practices and procedures, including mediation, adjudication, arbitration and litigation.
