Kathryn and Dean are the welcoming hosts at the Shears Inn, a real hidden gem that has been described as Halifax’s best kept secret. Long famous for its unique character, the inn displays many pictures of old Halifax on its walls, a charming paved outside area with garden furniture and parasols is an added attraction. Open all day, every day, Shears is a great place for lovers of real ale – there’s always an excellent choice of quality cask ales that include the Copper Dragon range together with two products from Timothy Taylor. Food is served every lunchtime and Monday to Friday evenings, and because of its popularity it’s always a good idea to book. The choice runs from hot and cold sandwiches, filled king-size Yorkshire puddings to fish specials, grills and vegetarian options with traditional roasts added to the choice on Sunday.
