Yorkshire Tipple Tickles Russian Fancy!

Copper Dragon is finding a ready market for its range of hand crafted bottled cask ales on the other side of the old Iron Curtain. This month the brewery despatched the first of twenty four shipments to Moscow with an estimated 300,000 bottles heading for the Russian capital. Further consignments are heading to the nearby Baltic state of Lithuania.

Steve Taylor commented, We have already forged ahead in new markets with Copper Dragon now available in two of the most discerning beer drinking nations, Denmark and Australia and we are also in the process of securing significant orders for a number of nations in Central and Western Europe'.

September 2006
September saw the opening of the 6th Copper Dragon Inn, The Cross Roads in Keighley. Since opening, the Inn has gone from strength to strength thanks to the efforts of Chris Marsden the new landlord.

The Brewery enjoyed a visit from the R.A.F Nimrod Engineering Team who spent a pleasant evening sampling the Ales and touring the Brewery. Steve Taylor the MD was delighted when presented with a limited edition print of Britain’s Early Warning Defence Plane the MRA4.

Our Lancashire Area Representative, Mr Bob Starkie, won the Northern Area Clay Pigeon Shoot scoring 13 out of 15 to become the Yorkshire Champion at the ZZ Helicar.

Copper Dragon once again sponsored the Keighley Beer Festival and as usual it proved to be a huge success, selling out of all of our products due to popular demand.

Lastly, our Inn in Kettlewell, The Bluebell, was awarded The Best Pub Frontage by the Kettlewell and District Horticultural Society.

August 2006
Copper Dragon once again increased their Marketing staff. This was in order to assist with the volume of new customers as August saw a record month for Sales.

Steve Taylor, Copper Dragons MD, was asked to present The John Rycroft Trophy to the Broughton Road Bowling Club.

Copper Dragon sponsored a table at the Rendezvous Charity Ball in aid of Cancer Research.

July 2006
During the Queens latest trip to the North of England, she visited the Inn at Whitewell which is part of the Royal Estate. The Inn is one of our very prestigious accounts which stocks our Challenger IPA, a 4.4% Premium ale. We’re not too sure if the Queen... or more probably HRH Prince Phillip, enjoyed a pint of our ale but we are able to say that they will have seen our product for sale at the bar.

6th
Skiptons Annual Clogfest Dancers. A showcase featuring all dance teams at the canal basin starting at 2.30pm sponsored by Copper Dragon Brewery. If last year is anything to go by, this will be a first class event and should not be missed by the whole family.

The Gala girls were joined this year by Claire Boocock, one of the Licensees from the Buck Inn at Malham. Also the band 'Undercover' played and sang on the same float ably assisted by a noisy team of brightly coloured girls from the Brewery staff.

Skipton's Premier Hotel, the Rendezvous, Keighley Road, Skipton now serves two of Copper Dragon's products; Golden Pippin and Scott's 1816, and a range of our bottled beers.

Our Brewery Tours are now up and running, starting times are from 5.30pm to 6.30pm and lasting approximately one to one and a half hours. Again costs are still only £5.00 per head, which includes a pint of the ale on for the particular night and 50% of the proceeds for our chosen charity. Tours must have from 10 -14 persons and it should be noted that the tours are of a technical nature. It has to be said that they are very popular!

May 2006
the new brewing vesselsThe new Brewing vessels have been installed successfully and commissioned by Bavarian Brewery Technologies. This has increased the Brewery’s capacity to 250bbl per week, a very much required increase, as May saw a record number of sales of all products to our existing customers as well as many new ones.

The New Brewery Shop is now up and running. Opening hours are:

Monday – Friday 11am – 5pm except during Brewery Tours when the hours are extended to accommodate the guests.

We have also added to our range of clothing merchandise. Alongside our t-shirts and polo shirts, caps and fleeces, we now have our own style and colour of Rugby shirts both long and short sleeves.

April 2006

The Blue Bell Inn in Kettlewell saw a record number of visitors for the second month running. This beautiful Yorkshire Dales Inn headed by the Famous Chalky Whyte is providing a delicious selection of freshly produced cuisine complemented by a range of Copper Dragon’s high quality real ales and a fabulous array of wines selected by The Wright Wine Company from Skipton.

April saw the birth of Geri Halliwell’s first baby, Blue Bell, which may very well have been named after her visit to see Chalky and his team.

The Brewery saw an increase in staff within the Distribution Team. James McCormack (Jimmy) joined us to assist with the increasing volume of beer sales requiring distribution throughout the North of England.

The point of sale merchandise has been expanded to include several new items, which can be purchased direct from the Brewery.

the blue bell inn9th
Copper Dragon is proud to announce the addition of The Blue Bell Inn at Kettlewell to its portfolio of tied Inns.

The 16th century Coaching Inn has received a make over to restore the character and beauty of this picturesque dales landmark.

A new bar has been fitted which has opened up the room and bathed the whole area with light. The bricked up fireplace has been taken away which was hoped would reveal the original stone fireplace, unfortunately this had been removed at a previous time. This meant that a local stonemason had to be drafted in to create a new fire surround to match with the character of the Inn.

The Inn has been painted throughout and new more appropriate lighting installed. The old signage removed and replaced with signs that befit the longevity of the Inn and the area in which it lies. The innkeeper is a well known character from the area, who is well respected and loved, apparently even the Tornado pilots know him and dip their wings as they fly past.

This is the first Dales Inn for the Brewery, which will, with determination and hard work, become a popular spot for locals and visitors to visit and stay a while.

All in all, this Inn has been given the respect and love that it deserves and has long been looking for.
