We welcome parties of 6-14 people who are interested in seeing the Copper Dragon Brewery and the brewing process of our real ales. Our objective is to promote and provide you with the knowledge and understanding of real ale, to achieve this we will make each tour a detailed and interesting experience, irrespective of your personal knowledge.
We commence with a brief history of the brewery, the changing market and how Copper Dragon, along with other small independent breweries, achieve sales to provide the discerning drinker with a pint worthy of drinking. The tour starts with an explanation and understanding of real ale, and how our brewers select the choice barley and hops to produce award winning ales. Moving on to our Grain Store, you will have the opportunity to smell and taste the malts used, observe the Mill in action, the Hydration System and from there, on to the Brewhouse. We then move on to show how Conical Fermenters work and the Critical Process Control System. From there we move on to the Maturing Tanks, Cask Wash Sterility, Racking and finally Cellar Conditioning. At the end of the tour you will be invited to sample our beers on the brewery bar, chosen by the head brewer. Due to the dangerous nature of the Steam Plant, we cannot allow tours during production hours. We can, therefore, under normal circumstances accommodate a starting time between 5.30pm to 6.30pm, Monday - Thursday inclusive. Our tours last approximately one to two hours, with further tasting time at the end. ENJOY!
Price - £5.00 each. Includes a £2.00 donation towards the 'guide dogs for the blind' and vouchers for either two half pints or one pint. Thereafter a subsidised bar is available. Evening Tours with something extra! We are able to organise evening meals following your visit. These range from bar snacks to home cooked quality cuisine in traditional town and country Inns, provided by local stockists of our beers.
