About
CPRE
....
CPRE
is the Campaign to Protect Rural England. It is a national
charity that helps people to protect their local countryside
where there is threat, to enhance it where there is opportunity,
and to keep it beautiful, productive and enjoyable for everyone.
It has 60,000 supporters and a branch in nearly every county.
The head office is in London. Our Patron is Her Majesty the
Queen and Bill Bryson is our President....more
The
43 County Branches are independent charities, run by their
own executive committee. National office coordinates the Branch
network, provides advice and information, and receives back
local input which informs national decision-making and strengthens
its ability to influence both national and local government
policy. There is also a regional structure, in our case, the

Issues
There
are many key issues at national level, but also issues which
affect our region or local areas. National issues at the moment
include campaigning against a Government policy document which
proposes some drastic changes to the land use planning system
and telephone masts. Local issues include review of regional
planning guidance and a number of local policies. The future
of farming is also critical to the fiture of the countryside.
