Warwickshire ART COMPETITION
‘Rural Warwickshire’
Prize
Winners
Top
entry in the Campaign to Protect Rural England’s Summer
Art Challenge competition is ‘An Inner City Idyll’
by Elaine Duffy of Coventry. Elaine will receive £75.
Judges Jane Powell, of Jane Powell Art Studio, Balsall Common
and Sarah Taylor, of Picturesque Art Supplies and Framing
decided the pen and ink and watercolour drawing showing city
allotments stood out for its originality and flair.
Sandra
Clinch’s ‘The Smithy’ and Margaret Greenwood’s
‘Rural Splendour – Merevale Hall, Atherstone’
came in at joint second. They will be awarded a selection
of artists' materials. ‘It was very difficult to choose
between them,’ Jane Powell explained. ‘‘The
Smithy’ looked very inviting, particularly on a wet
day and the fox and rabbits in ‘Rural Splendour’
provided some lovely detail.’
Fourth
prize went to Anthony Grimley for his innovative 3-D carving
‘Spring’. He will receive a family ticket for
Compton Verney Art Gallery.
The
Prize Giving was our exhibition at the Kenilworth Librrary
Gallery on Saturday, 27th September. |

The
Competiton
The
Campaign to Protect Rural England was formed 80 years ago to fight
for our countryside. The Warwickshire branch campaigns for the landscapes
of Warwickshire including Coventry and Solihull.
We
want to raise public awareness of our campaigns AND we want to challenge
local artists to show us how they see our county.
We
have received some interesting entries in the Competition and we
are judging these on 5th September. Results will appear on this
page.
We
are delighted to acknowledge support from –
