How
to Object to a Planning Application
Perhaps
you were born in this part of the world or you came here because
you value the beauty and tranquility that cities cannot provide.
But now your peace of mind, and the super view from your garden,
are under attack, for Developments Ltd. has applied to build
a some houses nearby.
Crisis!
What can you possibly do against the moneyed expertise of
Developments Ltd ?
This
is what you can do. You can see if there are grounds to
object. Visit the offices of your local district or borough
council and ask to see a copy of the application.. Find out
exactly what is proposed and make a sketch or get a photocopy
of the general plan of the site under threat.
Also
ask to see the Local District Plan, the official policy
document issued by your local council and discover if the
application site has been designated for residential development,
if it is green-field, (undeveloped), or brown-field (previously
developed). See what council policies in the Local District
Plan refer either to development in general, or/and this site
in particular.
Write
a letter of objection to the council, stating the number
of the application. Don't write "I have lived here all my
life and I don't see why the developers should profit at our
expense," sort of letter, but give reasons why the application
should be refused, such as the ruin of a lovely view, an encroachment
on to green-field land, over-development, it is against specific
council policy and so forth.
Rally
support for your objection with others in the village;
see that everyone writes letters of objection; lobby your
local councilors; speak at the Planning Committee if that
is allowed.
And
one thing more. If you live in the countryside contact
CPRE Warwickshire by one of the methods below.
Planning
is our lifeblood and we will be pleased, indeed anxious, to
fight your case as far as possible.
