Projects

We currently have a number of projects and campaigns under way. Here is a note of some of them ...

Local Food - This is an innovative project which is set to explore the benefits of local food to the local community, economy and the countryside around Kenilworth. The project, part of a national initiative led by the national office of the Campaign to Protect Rural England will pilot new ways of mapping the local food network, or ‘food web’ in and around the town .... more Hedgerows - We are concerned at the loss of hedgerows in recent years. Hedges are a distinctive feature of most parts of the landscape in the county. This project is a survey of all the hedges in the county to record them and the plant species which are present ... more

Quiet Lanes - We are researching which lanes in the county need protection from lorries and speeding drivers. There are a number of ways that such hazards can be reduced and to preserve the tranquillity of the country. We will pursue all avenues when our research is complete.

Cluttered Countryside - There are many places where road signs and other clutter create unnecessary visual intrusion into the countryside. We have received funding to locate and record the worst examples. We will then try to persuade the authorities to tidy them up ... more
Countryside Character - in order to protect our countryside we need to know what is there to be protected. This project aims to build on existing work to record the types of countryside in Warwickshire for future reference. One aspect we will be looking at is protecting the character of our ancient market towns.
