The Branch
can only carry out much of its work through the efforts of
volunteers ... here are some ideas ...
Volunteer
Opportunities - March 2010
If
you are looking to help an organisation like ours then we
have plenty of opportunities for volunteers ... here are eight
or nine examples for you to think about ... but don't just
think ... contact us now ...
Branch Secretary
We
want to release more of the time of our Development Manager
to implement a number of projects so we need a Branch Secretary
to look after the running of the branch. The job will involve
general administration of the branch office and looking after
our regular meetings. We are based in Warwick. If you think
this may be just the job for you then contact
us now.
Leaflet
Distribution
We
would like to recruit some people to distribute leaflets in
their own locality about what CPRE aims to do.
This means taking out 50 or so leaflets and a few dispensers
and persuading retail outlets such as garages, food shops,
doctor's and dentist's waiting rooms, post offices etc to
display them.
If
this is a task which you would enjoy please contact
us now.
Social Secretary
We
endeavour to arrange interesting and enjoyable events for
our membersthroughout the year. Of course these events need
to be organised and this is easier if we have an Organiser.
We are therefore looking for a Social Secretary to do the
organisation. If this appeals to you then contact
us now.
Campaign
Manager/Volunteer Coordinator
We
have number of campaigns that we would like to run and we
have quite a few keen volunteers. All these campaigns and
volunteers need to be organised, monitored and encouraged.
If you can help please contact us
now.
Planning Volunteers
A
lot of our work involves examining planning applications and
commenting on, or objecting to, those which contravene planning
policies or will have an adverse effect on the countryside.
We already have a six or seven volunteers who cover much of
our area but we always need more. People in Rugby and North
Warwickshire areas would be especially welcome. There is plenty
of technical help and support available and there is a regular
meeting of the people involved every two months or so. If
you have a feeling for the landscape of the county and will
enjoy looking at applications and learning about planning
policies then this will suit you so please contact
us now.
Cluttered Countryside
We
have received a grant to carry out a project to look at the
proliferation of road signs and other signs in the countryside.
We need volunteers to survey the county to find the worst
examples and to help in taking follow up action. If you enjoy
travelling around the county and can take decent photographs
then we need you. P lease contact
us now.
Hedgerows Survey
We
are concerned at the loss of hedges and the way they are treated
in some cases. We are carrying out a project with Warwickshire
Wildlife Trust to survey all the hedges in Warwickshire to
develop a record of what species of plants are growing in
the hedges and the state of maintenance.
If you enjoy being outside and walking in the country
then being one of our surveyors could be for you. There will
be thorough training before you are asked to help. Please
contact us now.

need people to help in our office in Warwick in various tasks
including
1 Maintaining our library
2 Updating our computer databases

4 Opening and staffing the office on a regular basis. We particularly
need someone on Thursdays at the moment
Please
