A programme aimed at addressing social inclusion of young people (0-19's) in Crosby through a mix of lottery
funding and close partnership working. Projects include an all weather multi-sports facility, teenage youth shelters, pocket
parks and a programme of play and activity sessions at existing community venues.
Lunchtime Activities: The project works in partnership with
lunchtime support staff in local schools, in providing a wide range of play activities. Headteachers have
commented that the number of behavioural incidents have reduced dramatically, because the children are positively engaged
in play. There have been fewer incidents of misuse of play equipment and there have been improvements in classroom
behaviour in the afternoons.

Multi-Use Games Area: A floodlit multi-use
games area has been sited within Sheffield Park. It is open access, and can be used all year round by young people free of
charge. It provides a safe environment for young people to indulge in a range of play and recreational activities.

Pocket Parks: Crosby is
currently an area of high density housing with few open spaces which children can claim for their own play needs. To address
these needs the project is in the process of developing three pocket parks, designed for children under 8 years of age.
· Teenage Shelters: The Project
has provided one shelter at Sheffield Park and one at Avenue Vivian playing field. The project is in the process
of identifying additional sites. The aim is to create non-confrontational meeting places for teenagers.
·
School Holiday Programmes:
The project provides a varied range of
play and recreational activities. These include: Structured sport specific coaching, informal drop-in activity sessions and
bookable activity programmes
