THERMAL IMAGING (THERMOGRAPHY)
Infrared Thermograpy is an inexpensive method that can be used to survey areas, machinery or manufacturing equipment without disturbing the suject.
A reliable early recognition of developing damage to system components is important in order to guarentee high safety and reliablity of the machines.

This is a non-contact test method and as such no electrical shutdown is necessary.
Heat development can indicate strain caused by friction, incorrect adjustment, excessive tolerances of the components or insuffiecient lubrication.
Infrared radiation is emitted by every object above a temperature of absolute zero (-273.15oC). To capture this radiation and make it visible, you need an infrared camera that can take clear heat pictures, measure temperatures instantly and convert these images into a standard electronic format for further processing.

In low, medium and high volage systems, infrared thermography allows and evaluation of the level of warming. This enables defective componenets or connections to be identified early and the required preventative steps taken, thus minimizing the danger of a fire and helping avoid costly downtime.
This non-contact technique allows fast and safe analysis of your distribution boards, electrical equipment and any plant you have on site.
Temperature changes can indicat problems in may areas you see every day. Some include:-
Inside Electrical Distribution and Services:-
(Switch gear, panels, controls, fuses, transformers, receptacles, lighting, conductors, bus bars, motor control centres).
Motors, Pumps and Mechanical:-
(Electric motors and generators, pumps, compressors, evaporators, bearings, couplings, gearboxes, gaskets / seals, belts, rollers, disconnects).
Outside Electrical Distribution / Utilities:-
(Transformers, bushings insulators, transmission lines, other exterior conductors, service connections, disconnects, capacitor banks).
The main applications of thermal imaging are:-
- Detect overloaded circuits
- Highlight poor / corroded connections
- Oxidisation of high voltage switched
- Overloaded pumps and motors...

On completion of the survey you will be issued with a report highlighting all areas requiring attention.
All images will be assigned a level of priority from 0 - 3 (Level 3 requiring immediate attention).
A suitable person on site will be notified of any issues requiring immediate attention before the thermographer leaves site where possible.

The report will contain all the images taken even where no action os required as these can be used in future surveys as a reference point.
A Thermal Imaging Survey may also be beneficial for insurance purposes.
