The
New Module 1 Motorcycle Test (20/05/09)
Much has been said in the
motorcycle press about the new 'Module one' off road bike
test. Some have even questioned the relevance of the
manoeuvres, especially the 'Swerve and Stop' element. We
believe that any technique that improves your ability to
control your machine must be a good thing. Here at CSMT we
have been carrying out such manoeuvres routinely in our
training for the past 10 years. What the DSA have done now
is to simply formalise what we have been doing informally.
If you have any concerns or fears about taking your test
then please give us a ring and let us put your mind at
rest. Yes, it is more involved than before but it is
certainly not harder. Give us a call. Let us get you
through your test. You can view a video of the module
1 test

The New Motorcycle test
is now underway (27/04/09)
The decision regarding the recent
consultation to introduce the new test in modular format has
been announced by Jim Fitzpatrick MP, Parliamentary
Under-Secretary of State Department for Transport, this
morning. The key points are:
- New motorcycle test to be split into 2 parts - Increased number of service delivery points
The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) has today published a
response to the recent consultation paper: Introducing the
new practical motorcycling test and associated fees.
A key decision is that the practical motorcycling test will be
split into two modules.
Module 1 – a specified off road manoeuvres test
Module 2 – a road riding test.

Motorcycles able to use bus
lanes

Motorcyclists are now
allowed to use some of London's bus lanes.
Motorcyclists will be able to
ride in the restricted lanes for an 18-month trial period.
Transport for London (TfL) said
it hoped the measure would cut accidents and traffic in the
capital.
The change will only
apply to TfL (Red Route) bus lanes.
