The cockatrice is a creature that first appeared
in Renwick in the the late 1600's as the people of Renwick were
leaving the church. a cockatrice is a creature that is a said to
be a cross between a cockerel and a dragon. the only way to
defeat a cockatrice, according to legend, is to bop it on the
head with a rowan branch, or something along those lines. the
general gist of it is that it's scared of rowan branches. the
man who defeated it was called John Tallentire, though it ws
probably not his idea and may have been his mum who told
him what to do.. just joking. although you never know...(ok we
do, we are just messing you about now and it is probably time we
