Reinstatement of Leek Brook Railway Station
Having successfully been awarded grants from Staffs Moorlands Council and Peak LEADER the NSRC have now rebuilt Leek Brook Station. It has been built as an exact replica of the 19th century building formerly attached to Leek Brook Signal Box, a Grade II listed building, as shown in the photograph above. It was officially opened on 14th October 2018.

History of the Churnet Valley Line

1849 to the present day...

NSRC's other functions include acting as a conduit for grant aid applications (these being helped by NSRC's Charitable Company status), coordination of the "Museum" aspects of the Railway and organisation of social and fundraising events such as slideshow evenings, social evenings and raffles.

We support mainly through fund raising either by raffles or applying for grants, but we also try to raise funds through donations such as yours or legacy donations. Your donation will go towards providing funds to improve the railway's infrastructure, rolling stock and buildings and many other more minor projects such as fencing, signs etc.

The CHURNET VALLEY RAILWAY has had many successful Galas using its own fleet of locomotives. However, visiting locomotives are a great draw for the enthusiasts and public.

In the past we have had a TRANSPORT FUND to specifically pay for the costs of moving locomotives to and from the railway. These costs are not trivial - a typical example would be moving the Coal Tank to the railway which will cost £2,700 in each direction.

The North Staffordshire Railway Company (1978) Ltd, supporting the Churnet Valley Railway, has re-opened the Transport Fund. Donations are Gift Aided. Please consider contributing to this special fund and donations can be placed in the special envelopes on trains and at stations, or sent to:

Cheddleton Station Appeal

2 Feb 2018 - Cheddleton station building has passed into the ownership of the Churnet Valley Railway - 40 years after the preservation scheme began there. Following a successful £50,000 appeal, the CVR (1992) plc has acquired the freehold of the Grade II-listed building from Staffordshire County Council - meaning that it now owns every part of its eight-mile line from Leek Brook Junction to Oakamoor.

The appeal is still open as the NSRC now wish to raise further funds for the renovation of the Station buildings and platform.

There are several ways to donate (see above) and for all donations to the The North Staffordshire Railway Co (1978) Ltd we are able to reclaim 28p for every pound that you donate through Gift Aid.
