BOAT BUILDING
BOAT REFURBISHING
JOINERY & CABINATE MAKING
BASIC SAILING
GRP - GLASS REINFORCED PLASTICS

Cyrenians have been awarded a contract to build three Club15 wooden sailing dinghies, (see left) designed for handicapped people who wish to enjoy and experience sailing.

Funding has been granted and the work will be part of the boat building course that is being run by Clive Richardson.

Once complete, we will be able to sail them in the new marina being developed along with All Points West Sailing School.

RESTORATION OF A 1950's INTERNATIONAL DRAGON RACING YACHT

This 1950's International Dragon Racing Yacht, seen left on display at the South Wales Boat Show at Margam Park June 2009, was designed for the then, Olympic Games. She was saved from the scrap yard by the Cyrenians who are planning to restore her back to her former glory as a means of training Cyrenians' service users and volunteers. Work on her is planned to start in the Autumn 2009.

Above: showing the state of the yacht when it was saved and how she looked in June.

Below: Initial work being carried out by Mike and Julie to check her state prior to the restoration work which is planned to start in the Autumn 2009.

When the yacht is finally restored, it will belong to the Cyrenians who can then use it for training service users to sail, especially those who have worked on the restoration. There are other restoration of historic boats waiting to be carried out and service users will be able to gain great experience both in restoration and boat building as well as learning to sail them.
